Peter Bates

Peter is a visual designer, choreographer, and clinician for the pageantry arts. Currently living in American Fork, Utah, Peter works with some of the best ensembles in the area, including the American Fork High School Marching Band and Gold Spike Percussion. 

Born and raised in North Carolina, Peter completed high school at American Fork HS after moving to Utah in 2010. After graduation, he went on to perform with the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. Peter marched for five years with the Phantom Regiment, where he aged out as the horn sergeant and was the recipient of the Mark Glasscoe Member of the Year award. After his time with the Phantom Regiment, Peter began spending his winters in Akron, OH to perform with Matrix in 2018 and continued to move every year to live in Ohio to teach with Matrix Performing Arts until 2021. He is still involved with Matrix as the lighting designer and creates and edits the videos for Matrix and Matrix Open. Peter served on the staff of the Phantom Regiment from 2019-2020 and has been on visual staff with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps since 2022.
